What Water System are you on?

System 1- 2012 Leak Report

Feb 18 - A leak found and fixed at a valve on a service line yesterday in Unit 3 unfortunately does not appear to have substantially mitigated our water loss. More diagnostics are expected today.

Feb 7 After much isolation testing, the biggest leak area has been identified in Unit 3 at 19 gpm.  The exact location has yet to be identified. More testing will be performed in an effort to locate the leak.  Expect water outages while testing is performed.

Feb 6 - Mark Stanley:
The System 1 leakage rate summary for the period going back through most of January is as follows: Before Jan 30: 17+ gal/min Jan 30 - Feb 01: 19+ gal/min Feb 03: 22 gal/min Feb 04: 25+ gal/min Feb 05: 28+ gal/min Feb 06: 31 gal/min Our pump rate with both pumps currently pumping 24/7 is 32 gal/min and tank levels are at 43% and falling. The nightly increase of 3 gal/min for each of the past few nights will cause System 1 to fail within a couple of days if the leak is not found soon.

Members should be on the lookout for a major leak either surfacing on or near a road or within a neighbors abandoned house and should contact a member of the water team water@slppoa.org if a major leak is found or suspected.

Members should also be aware that we may need to close main line valves in order to isolate the leak and/or rebuild tank levels, so a water outage may be imminent regardless.

System 2- 2012 Leak Report

Early Jan -  broken resident line from freezing temps.

Mid-January has not been found due to frozen ground conditions. A crew will have to try to locate this leak probably some time in late spring.

Mid-January - during the search for one leak, another substantial leak on Los Griegos, which put some residents out of water for a number of days, was found and fixed and has helped to stabilize system 2 for now. Costs-several thousand dollars, volunteer labor hours - 4-5 days. This leak fix was dangerous due to high voltage lines right next to the water line. The utility company had to be present during excavation to provide a safe work environment.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory  in effect.
